Some cemeteries in Albuquerque, New Mexico require a burial vault or grave liner, and our staff can help you understand and meet these requirements. Gabaldon Mortuary provides burial vaults that are structurally sound, finely crafted and manufactured by the most reputable companies in our industry.
Why get a Burial Vault?
A burial vault is a sturdy container designed to protect a casket from earth elements. The liner is lowered into the ground first and then the casket is placed inside. Made with high-strength concrete or metal, burial vaults possess sealing qualities to provide lasting protection. A lined, sealed warranted burial vault provides protection from the outside elements.
If exposed to Mother Nature, a casket may collapse, forming a sunken grave at the surface. This is an unpleasant sight; however, it is one that’s easily prevented with a sturdy burial vault. Burial vaults may be concrete or made with metals like bronze, stainless steel, or aluminum.
What is a Grave Liner?
Many cemeteries require burial vaults; some also require grave liners. Grave liners are outer burial containers; however, they are not sealed or water resistant. Typically, they are made with wood or concrete. Grave liners provide a barrier from earth’s contents; however, they do not provide the casket protection.
