Cremation Caskets / Containers / Rental Caskets & Inserts
Cremation containers are as essential to a cremation as caskets are to a burial. The cremation process requires that the body be enclosed in a simple cardboard container. Some people may wish for a more elaborate cremation casket. Gabaldon Mortuary can help you to choose the right container for your loved one’s final disposition.
If You Wish to Have a Viewing
The type of funeral or memorial service you plan to hold will affect your choice of cremation casket. If you plan to have a wake or viewing prior to the cremation, you may want this to take place in a more traditional cremation casket. Once the viewing is over, this casket may be used for the cremation.
Another option is to utilize a rental casket and insert. This is a more affordable option and does not require you to purchase a new casket for the viewing. Instead, you purchase an insert, which will comfortably hold your loved one’s body. This insert will be placed in a standard casket, which you will rent rather than buy from the funeral home. After the viewing, the insert can be removed and used as a cremation container.
Cremations and Memorial Services
Some people prefer to hold a memorial service after the cremation has occurred, without a wake or viewing first. In this case, you may use a traditional cremation casket, or you can choose a simpler container instead.
Cremation containers can be made from a variety of materials, including wood, bamboo, wicker and even cardboard. Once the cremation has been completed, the ashes can be returned to you in one of many styles of cremation urn, which can then be displayed at the memorial service immediately following or at a later date.
