Agnes Marcelina Padilla (1940–2026)
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Agnes Marcelina Padilla, who departed this life peacefully, surrounded by her family, on Saturday, April 11, 2026, at the age of 85. Agnes was born on May 24, 1940, in Roy, New Mexico, to Fred and Mary Dora Romero.
Agnes is survived by her loving husband of 67 years, Esequiel Padilla; her son, Frederick Padilla (Betty); and her daughter, Bernadette Perea. She is also survived by her granddaughters, Christine Perea, Margo Tapia (Abran), and Michelle Burns (Jeremy); and her great-grandchildren, Nevaeh Thorn, Scarlett Tapia, Ezra Tapia, and Juliet Tapia.
She is further survived by her brothers, Patricio Romero, James Romero (Angeline), and Anthony Romero; and her sisters, Stella Martinez, Isabelle Vigil (David), Angela Romero, Diana Fein, and Barbara Chavez.
Agnes was preceded in death by her parents, Fred and Mary Dora Romero; her sister, Esther Silva; and her brothers, Fred Romero Jr. and John D. Romero.
Agnes was a devoted and loving wife, mother, sister, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She took great pride in her family and cherished every moment spent with them. As the fourth oldest of twelve children, she naturally stepped into a nurturing role early in life, showing patience, kindness, and unconditional love to her siblings and those around her.
Agnes worked for 25 years as a Unit Secretary and Heart Monitor Technician at St. Joseph’s Hospital. She truly loved her work and continued to share her knowledge and passion for reading heart monitors at the bedsides of her family members when they were admitted to the hospital long after she retired. We all took comfort in having her around for our hospital stays.
Since 1973, Agnes was a devoted Jehovah’s Witness. Her faith and love for Jehovah were central to her life. She shared her beliefs with everyone she met and hoped that her loved ones would come to know and love Jehovah as deeply as she did. She found great comfort in her faith and the promise of being reunited with her family in paradise.
Agnes will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Though our hearts are heavy, we find peace in knowing she is no longer suffering and rests in the loving care of our Heavenly Father, Jehovah.
The Funeral Service For Agnes will be held at The Kingdom Hall located at 2605 Foothill Dr. SW on Saturday, April 25, 2026 at 3:00 p.m.
