Angel "Rojo" Varela Mendez

Angel passed away at home unexpectedly on the 7th of January in his bed at the young age of 59. He is survived by his wife Julia Marquez De Varela, son Angel Varela Jr., and his wife Daisy Valenzuela, daughter Margarita Varela and husband Javier Del Rivero, and Stephany Varela and husband Cesar Leo. His grandchildren Seandale, Joshua, Desteny, Aidan, Ivan, Serenity, Adanelly, Dariel, Jahziel. His mother Maria De Los Angeles Mendez Estrada and brother Francisco Varela, sister Lucila Varela, brother Noe Varela, and brother Leonel Varela.He is superseded by his father Trinidad Varela, brother Jacobo Varela and nephew Trinidad Varela. Angel was a loving and exceptional son, husband, father, grandfather and friend. He had such a big heart and loved hard. He would bend backwards for anyone even if he had very little to give. He was the most hardworking man you could’ve ever met. Despite the battles and struggles he fought silently, he never gave up. He stood tall for his family and always found ways to make them smile. He had such a BIG heart and his smile could brighten an entire room. He will truly be missed by so many.

A Visitation for Angel will be held on Friday, January 16, 2026, at 4:00 p.m. A Rosary will be recited at 7:00 p.m. A Mass will take place on Saturday, 17, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. all to be held at Mission San Juan, Diego Catholic Church located at 621 Meadow Lake Rd, Los Lunas, NM 87031. A Burial will follow services to Fairview Memorial Park located at 700 Yale Blvd SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106.

Ángel falleció inesperadamente en su casa el 7 de enero, en su cama, a la temprana edad de 59 años. Le sobreviven su esposa Julia Márquez de Varela, su hijo Ángel Varela Jr. y su esposa Daisy Valenzuela, su hija Margarita Varela y su esposo Javier Del Rivero, y Stephany Varela y su esposo César Leo. Sus nietos Seandale, Joshua, Desteny, Aidan, Ivan, Serenity, Adanelly, Dariel y Jahziel. Su madre María de los Ángeles Méndez Estrada y sus hermanos Francisco Varela, Lucila Varela, Noé Varela y Leonel Varela.Le precedieron en la muerte su padre Trinidad Varela, su hermano Jacobo Varela y su sobrino Trinidad Varela.Ángel fue un hijo, esposo, padre, abuelo y amigo cariñoso y excepcional. Tenía un corazón enorme y amaba profundamente. Hacía todo lo posible por los demás, incluso cuando tenía muy poco que ofrecer. Era el hombre más trabajador que se pudiera conocer. A pesar de las batallas y dificultades que enfrentó en silencio, nunca se rindió. Siempre estuvo ahí para su familia y encontraba la manera de hacerlos sonreír. Tenía un corazón inmenso y su sonrisa iluminaba cualquier lugar. Lo extrañaremos muchísimo.

El Velorio para Ángel tomara a cabo el viernes 16 de enero de 2026 a las 4:00 p.m. Se recitará un Rosario a las 7:00 p.m. La misa sera el sábado 17 de enero de 2026 a las 9:00 a.m., todo se llevara a cabo en la iglecia catolica la Misión San Juan, Diego, ubicada en 621 Meadow Lake Rd, Los Lunas, NM 87031. Se ledara santa sepultura despues de los servicios en el panteon de Fairview Memorial Park, unicado en 700 Yale Blvd SE, Albuquerque, NM 87106.
