Anthony T. Gutierrez, (67), was born and raised in Albuquerque NM, and went to be with the Lord on January 16, 2024, surrounded by family.
Anthony, fondly known as Antonio, was the 9th born child of 12 children to Antonio and Josefita Gutierrez, on April 02, 1956. He graduated from West Mesa High School in 1974. He was a Raiders fan (which he advertised proudly). After graduating he worked for the City of Albuquerque and spent most of his time in the Water Department. He was a crew leader, CDL operator, and heavy machinery trainer. After 25 years he retired from the City of Albuquerque. After retirement, he continued to work various jobs to support his family. He was a devoted husband, father, and proud grandpapa of eight (8) grandchildren.
Anthony is survived by his darling wife of forty-seven years, Josephine Gutierrez; his children, grandchildren, his brothers, sisters, and many nieces, nephews, and extended family.
Anthony loved his family! Anthony was deeply devoted to his family and made many sacrifices to provide for them. He loved his family very much and was dedicated to supporting his kids and grandchildren anyway he could. This was evident as he prided himself in picking up his grandchildren from school and lovingly referred to himself as the “bus driver.” Every summer he would either set up a swimming pool in the front yard or take all the grandchildren swimming to the local City swimming pools. The summer would also consist of weekend outings on his four wheeler with his son, son-in-law, and nephew. Warm weather barbeques in his front yard with his family and family trips around the country was something he often enjoyed. Nothing else mattered more than his family! Anthony was very spiritual. He donated to many religious ministries and supported local churches. He enjoyed listening to and reading about the word of God and the life of Jesus Christ. His favorite bible verses would often be found around his house or in his vehicles after he had written them down.
Anthony loved life! He had numerous interests. He enjoyed dancing, listening to music, going fishing, camping, and telling jokes. Watching football, NASCAR, going to the ABQ Drag races and making people laugh were all things he enjoyed. His 1978 Ford pick-up truck was a labor of love that he continuously worked on and took great pride and joy in driving around Albuquerque and camping trips in the summer. He was also passionate about sports, life, philosophy, sociology, and politics. He enjoyed meeting people from around the world and would strike up conversations with anyone everywhere he went. He enjoyed learning about other cultures and beliefs as they fascinated him. He was also very proud of his culture and background and was delighted to share that with new people he met.
He would often share with his family, how much he missed his parents, and siblings that passed before him. He would often speak about how much he cared about his brothers, sisters, nephews, and nieces and wished he could spend more time with them. Unfortunately, he suffered from ongoing heart problems and pain. These problems would cause him to depart this life too soon. His journey has come to an end, and he is no longer suffering, but now joyfully rejoins his family with the Lord. The following scripture was written down by Anthony: ‘My son attend to my words consent and submit to my sayings. Let them not depart from your sight; keep them in the center of your heart. For they are life to those who find them, healing & health to all their flesh and body.’ Proverbs 4:20-22.
Anthony was a confident and passionate man that expressed himself boldly without any shame; but with true Love from his heart. He will be missed and loved; but will live forever in our hearts.
