Carolina Chavez Jaramillo, 90 of Albuquerque passed away peacefully at her home on May 19, 2026, surrounded by family. She was a cherished mother, grandmother, and friend whose presence will be deeply missed.
She was born on September 6, 1935, in Corona to Estolano and Bernarda Chavez. She met her husband, Edumenio “Eddy” Jaramillo at a dance in her hometown of Corona where their love story began. They eloped shortly after meeting and together built a loving family with seven children in Albuquerque.
Carolina was a talented seamstress who enjoyed making quilts and sewing outfits for her girls. Her daughters never wore off-the-rack prom or homecoming dresses as each one was custom made by Carolina. She spent many happy hours quilting and expressed her love through the quilts she made; anyone fortunate enough to receive one treasured it.
Family was at the heart of everything she did and her greatest joy was raising her children and surrounding them with love. She took immense pride in their success and accomplishments. Her grandchildren whom she helped lovingly raise, were another source of pride and joy to her. She was especially overjoyed to become a great-grandmother and spend time with her great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her children: Maximilano Jaramillo of Albuquerque, NM; Orly Ann Patton (Bob) of Albuquerque, NM; Pauline Adamson (Ryil) of Albuquerque, NM; Samuel Jaramillo (Bridget) of Kettering, OH; Stella Genero of Costa Rica; Margaret Griffin (Richard) of Albuquerque, NM; and Melba Crisp (Shane) of Bend, OR; 16 grandchildren; and 25 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Teresa Aragon (Leo); sister-in-law Teresa Aguilar; brother-in-law Armando Martinez; and many nephews, nieces, cousins, and loving friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edumenio “Eddy” Jaramillo; her parents, Estolano Chavez and Bernarda Baca-Chavez; her uncle and aunt who raised her, Julian Baca and Raquel Chavez-Baca; her mother-in-law Margarita Salazar-Jaramillo; her father-in-law Toribio Jaramillo; her brother, Trinidad Chavez; son-in-law John Edward Genero; grandson Marcus David Placencia; sisters-in-law Lugarda Deck and Librada Jaramillo Martinez; brothers-in-law Donald Deck and Manuel Aguilar Sr.; niece Lydia Rose Nieto and her husband, Eddie Nieto; nephew Manuel Aguilar Jr.; and honorary daughter Mary Jane Baca.
Pallbearers: Thomas Griffin, Dylan Adamson, Tyler Patton, Isaac Placencia, Matthew Mares, and Sid Garcia.
Honorary Pallbearers: Nicholas Jaramillo, Joseph Jaramillo, Santiago Jaramillo, Rafael Jaramillo, Mario Jaramillo, Forrest Crisp, Austin Crisp and Liam Hubbard.
