Daniel Lawrence Lovato, 76, born in Fairfield, California, and a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on March 30, 2026, with his family by his side.
Daniel is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Margaret; his two daughters, Alicia Baca and husband Jason, and Erica Lopez and husband Alfredo; and his twin sister, Connie Herrera. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Lawrence and wife Marissa, Jonathan, Brian, Jordan and wife Joclyn, Jason Jr., Ashley and husband Shawn, Kassi and husband Michael, and Alfredo III; and his great-grandchildren: Jude, Miguel, Ezekiel, Helena, and Athena.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rose Lovato; his great-grandson, Zayden Garcia; five siblings; and his in-laws, Willie and Alice Baca.
Daniel was a friendly and charismatic individual who loved joking and making people smile. His wife and daughters were the center of his world. He loved all his grandkids and great-grandkids and lived vicariously through them. His son-in-laws were the sons he never had and he loved them deeply. He would never turn down a meal or a chance to celebrate someone or something. He loved to tease and joke with his caregivers and nurses. Towards the end of his journey, Daniel enjoyed having Nerf gun battles, watching westerns, new TV shows, or just listening to music with his grandson Brian.
Daniel proudly served his country in the United States Army as a Vietnam veteran, receiving an honorable discharge. He earned a Bachelor’s degree in business. He enjoyed golfing and was a devoted Dallas Cowboys fan.
A devoted husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, Daniel will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, April 14, 2026 at 10:00 a.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 10:30 a.m. and a Mass to follow at 11:00 a.m. all be be held at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church located at 8301 Camino San Martin SW Albuquerque, New Mexico. The Burial will follow to Mount Calvary Cemetery with military honors.
Pallbearers will be Lawrence Baca, Jonathan Baca, Brian Baca, Jordan Baca, Jason Baca, and Alfredo Lopez III.
Honorary pallbearers will be Jason Sr., Alfredo, Jude Baca, Miguel Garcia, and Ezekiel Garcia.
