Fabian Montaño Jr., age 72, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on May 17, 2022. Fabian is survived by his wife of fifty years, Maria. Children: daughter Alicia Montaño and fiancé, Dominic Archuleta, daughter Andrea Chávez and husband, Dominic, son Fabian Montaño lll and wife, Jessica. Grandchildren and Honorary Urn bearers: Liana Montaño - Valencia, Lanae Valencia, Julian, Jude and Eliseo Archuleta, Antonio and Dominic “Nico” Chávez, Salomon and Carlos-Rey Madrid, and Ava Montaño. Siblings: Sister Luisa Chávez, brother Joe Montaño and wife Yolanda, sister Rebecca Delgado, sister Priscilla Aragon and husband Arthur, sister Ursula Montaño, sister Pauline Sandoval and husband, Raymond. Mr. Montaño was preceded in death by his parents, Fabian Montaño and Petra Montaño, and brother Edward Montaño. Fabian was born on June 7, 1949, in Albuquerque, New Mexico. His parents later moved to Grants, New Mexico where he graduated from Grants High School. Fabian Proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps earning and awarded the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service and Campaign Medal, Combat action Ribbon, and Rifle Marksman Badge and Honorably discharged. Fabian retired in 2002 as a District Manager at Utility Trailer. He was adored by many and was always willing to help family and friends. He especially enjoyed gardening and spending time in the New Mexico mountains, making memories with his wife, children, and grandchildren. Fabian will be greatly missed. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 31, 2022, at 8:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church 562 Atrisco Dr. SW, with a Communion Service to follow at 9:00 a.m. Mr. Montaño will be laid to rest at the Santa Fe National Cemetery with honors at 1:00p.m. Honorary Urn Bearers will be, Fabian Montaño lll, Dominic Chávez, Dominic Archuleta, John Baca, Juan Saavedra, Paul Chávez, John Roybal, Genaro Apodaca, Steve Becerra.
