Our beloved Mom and GG, Florence Bernal Parra, 94, was born in Taos Pueblo, New Mexico and was a longtime resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Mom was a full-blooded member of Taos Pueblo and was a nurse, who worked at both BCMC and Presbyterian Hospitals and later in Home Health Care. She loved being a nurse and caring for everyone. Mom was a devout Catholic and a member of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church along with our dad, John, for over sixty years. Mom and Dad were married on June 28, 1958, and enjoyed fifty-seven wonderful years together and are now reunited to spend eternity together in heaven. Florence is survived by her daughter, Melissa Parra Wilcox and husband, Michael and son, Matthias J. Parra; her precious grandchildren, Jose "Boo", Briana, Christina and husband, Fernando, Jedidiah “Jedi” and partner, Ashley and Dante; cherished great grandchildren, Mia, Fernando, Guillermo, and Emilliano; Mom was preceded in death by her loving husband and our dad, John E. Parra and her great-granddaughter, Janiece Marie Fernandez. We would like to thank all those who sent love and prayers, they gave comfort to Mom as we helped her through her final journey. We also thank Rio Grande Hospice (Becky and Elizabeth) who assisted us in giving Mom the best care. Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 24, 2026 at 6:30 p.m. in The Gabaldon Memorial Chapel 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Final visitation will be held on Wednesday, March 25, 2026 at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church 5415 Fortuna Rd. NW at 8:30 a.m. with Mass of Christian Burial to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. Burial will follow the Mass at Mt. Calvary Cemetery 1900 Edith Blvd NE. Pallbearers will be Mike, Matt, Boo, Fernando, Jedi and Dante.
