Gilbert Jacob Maes, age 78, born in Wagon Mound, New Mexico and a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on May 17, 2026. Gilbert is survived by his wife of fifty-five years, Theresa Maes; children, Gilbert Maes Jr. and wife, Valerie, Bernadette Saiz and boyfriend, Salvador; grandchildren, Cassandra, Michael, Jacob, Alyssa; siblings, Stella Romero, Richard Maes, Frank Maes and wife, Debbie, Jimmy Maes and wife, Kathy, Bill Maes and wife Adrie, Charles Maes, and wife, Debbie. He was preceded in death by his grandson, Octavio Pena, parents, Margarito “Fred” and Sinforosa “Rose Maes, sister, Josephine Montoya and husband, Richard, brother in-law, Isaac Romero, and Sister Bernadette Maes; Fraternal grandparents, Jose Maria and Emilia Maes, Maternal Grandparents, Santiago and Epifania Vigil. Visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 3, 2026, at 5:30 p.m. at St. Therese Catholic Church 3424 4th St. NW with a Rosary to be recited at 6:00p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Thursday, June 4, 2026, at 9:00 a.m. also, at St. Therese Catholic Church. Burial will follow with military honors at 12:30 p.m. at the Santa Fe National Cemetery 501 N. Guadalupe St. in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
