Hilario Herrera Chavez, age 86, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on April 16, 2024. Mr. Chavez is survived by his wife of sixty-three years, Veronica Chavez; children, James Chavez & Brigette Olivas, John Chavez and wife, Carlotta, Theresa Galvan and husband, Jimmy; grandchildren, Madeline, Jared, Tiffany, Melissa, Nicholas, Dominique, Dominic, Nathan, Angelica, Dimitri, Dominique; great-grandchildren, Gabriel, Brielle, Jude, Mila, Nico; several extended family members. He was preceded in death by his parents, Raphael and Rosalia Chavez. Mr. Chavez served his community proudly and retired as a Firefighter from the Albuquerque Fire Department. He and his wife, Veronica served St. Edwin Catholic Church as Marriage Enrichment counselors and served Rancho de Ninos, an orphanage in Mexico. Visitation for Mr. Chavez will be held in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW on Wednesday, April 24, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated on Thursday, April 25, 2024, 11:00 a.m. at San Martin de Porres Catholic Church 8301 Camino San Martin SW with interment to follow at San Jose de Armijo Cemetery 2957 Arenal Rd. SW. Pallbearers will be Nicolas Chavez, Jared Kruse, Dominique Donnell, Tiffany Chavez, Gabriel Ortega, and Melissa Trujillo. Honorary Pallbearers will be Mike Campos, Joseph Campos, Robert Lucero, Louie Turrietta, Alfred Romero, and Madeline Kruse.
