Irene Martinez, age 85, born in Filmore, California and a life-long resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, went to be with our Lord surrounded by her loving family, on June 6, 2024. Irene is survived by her seven children, David Martinez and wife, Evelyn, Rita Walz and husband, Daniel, Betty Chavez of Florida, Grace Muniz and husband, George, Bernadette Martinez, Alfred Martinez Jr. and wife, April, and Magdalena “Maggie” Martinez of Arizona: grandchildren, Melissa and Aaron, Matthew, and Joi and Erig, Rachel and Joe Armstrong, Ruben, Brandon, Jordan, Ray Chavez ll and wife, Amanda, Renee and Cody, Carlos, Vanessa and Randee, Erik, Jessica, Ray Delgado lll and wife, Wendy, Fernando, Kirsten and husband, Favian, Kailynn and husband, Rafael, Clarissa, and Alfred; great grandchildren, Sofia, Gabriel, Mariah, Raeann and Artie, Joseph ll and Brianna, Sonrisa, Omar, Hailey Wisdom, Michael (Richie) Elias (Richie),Joseph (Richie) Angelo (Richie) Destiny (Richie) , Giselle, Julius, Hudson, Kennady, Kianna, Mason, Nicole, Ashley and Andrew, Hector Jr., Miguel Jr., Ray lV, Josiah, Dominic, Jaelyn, Anuhea, Ariah, Jasaya, Izaiah, Adriel, Zoee, Maya, Rosie, Jayden and Armani; great-great grandchildren, Ariella, Joseph Jr., Nazareth, Diesel, Zyla, Zavehya and one on the way; siblings, Gloria Garcia, Annie Sierra and husband, Lupe, Nellie Lovato and husband, Phillip, Lolly Castillo and husband, Joe, Hilda Lucatorto and husband, Santos, and Joe Manuel Archuleta; sister-in law, Virginia Archuleta. Irene was preceded in death by her loving husband, Alfred Martinez Sr., her parents, Jose Manuel and Enemicia Archuleta; grandson, Richard “Richie” Alderete Jr., great-granddaughter, Lily; brothers, Rudy Archuleta, Jesus Archuleta, and Tony Archuleta. Irene was a devout Catholic and was a member of the Blue Army, Sisters of the Poor in Gallup, New Mexico. She was named “Person of the month” at Holy Family Catholic Church and volunteered at the Dominican Retreat House. She taught her grandchildren, Catechism. Her faith has always kept her strong throughout the years as she fought and survived cancer, was both mother and father to her seven children for over fifty years after the passing of her beloved husband, Alfred. She adored her grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren, and has truly been the Matriarch of her family over the years. She will truly be missed by all who knew her. Rest in Heavenly Peace “Little Momma” until we meet again. Visitation will be held on Thursday June 13, 2024, at 6:30 p.m. in The Gabaldon Memorial Chapel 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW with a Rosary to be recited by Patricia Muniz Roberts at 7:00p.m. A Final Visitation will take place on Friday, June 14, 2024 at 8:30a.m with a Mass of the Resurrection will be Celebrated at 9a.m. at St. Francis Catholic Church and Interment to take place at 2:00pm at Mt. Calvary Cemetery located at 1900 Edith Blvd NE where Irene will be laid to rest with her husband Alfred Martinez Sr. Pallbearers will be, Matthew Martinez, Ruben Alderete, Carlos Muniz, Ray Chavez, Ray Delgado lll, Alfred Childers and Fernando Gallegos. Honorary Pallbearers will be, Vanessa Muniz Joseph Alderete, Hector Montoya, Erik Muniz.
