Johnny Joe Lucero

Johnny Joe Lucero, born in San Jose, New Mexico on October 30, 1953 and a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2026 surrounded by his loving children.

Johnny retired from the City of Albuquerque, where he worked proudly as a welder for many years. He always felt most at home in the mountains, where he loved camping and fishing. Above all, Johnny was a proud father and grandfather who cherished every moment spent with his grandchildren. His gentle sense of humor, kindness, and love for his family will always be remembered.

Johnny is survived by his children, Diego Lucero and wife, Regina; LeAnn Lucero and husband, Dominic Trujillo; and Jessica Lucero; his grandchildren, Noah, Ava, and Roman Trujillo, and Jaxon, Liam, and Cameron Lucero; and his companion, Veronica Dominguez. He was preceded in death by his mother, Mary Rael, and his father, Juan Lucero.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, January 14, 2026, at 6:30 p.m., with a Rosary to follow at 7:00 p.m., at Gabaldon Memorial Chapel, located at 1000 Old Coors Drive SW, Albuquerque, NM 87121.A Mass will take place on Thursday, January 15, 2026, at 10:00 a.m., at the Catholic Church of the Ascension, located at 2150 Raymac Rd SW, Albuquerque, NM 87105. Following the services, burial will take place at Pajarito Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Jaxon Lucero, Noah Trujillo, Marcos Chavez, Micah Riggins, Jason Riggins, and Dominic Trujillo. Honorary pallbearers will be Liam Lucero, Roman Trujillo, Cameron Lucero, and Ava Trujillo.

He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
