John William Joseph (Will) Charles age 37, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2020. He was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on May 9, 1983 where he spent most of his life except for a year in Downingtown, Pennsylvania. Will graduated from Cibola High School in 2001 where he had a successful high school football career. In his younger days Will was also active in YAFL football and was part of two championship teams. Will attended Adams State College and UNM, where he graduated in 2006 with a bachelor’s degree in psychology. After graduation, Will continued his love for football by playing with several local semi-pro football teams and coaching YAFL football. Will spent most of his work career as a social worker and working with mental health and social service agencies. Will had significant impact to improve his clients lives and helping them develop their potential. Most recently he was employed by BCBS of New Mexico as a Claims Examiner. Will has a wide circle of friends who are deeply saddened by his passing. Many of these friendships began in grade school and middle school. He was known for his intelligence, his sense of humor, his laughter, his loyalty, and his generosity. Will was always ready to help someone in anyway he could. Will had a deep love of animals and outdoor activities. His spiritual place was Eagle Nest, NM where he especially enjoyed fishing as Eagle Nest Lake. Will was also an avid Tampa Bay Bucs, Nebraska Cornhusker football and NM Lobos football and basketball fan. His family is so sorrowful with his passing. He was such a loving husband, son, son-in law, uncle, nephew, cousin and brother-in law. He will be so greatly missed. Will is survived by his wife and soul mate, Jessica Trujillo Charles of Albuquerque; parents, John and Melodie Charles of Albuquerque, sister Renee Matsen of Albuquerque beloved aunt, Dawn Malone of Albuquerque and numerous other aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Funeral and memorial services for Will are planned for a later date and further details will be provided.
