Our beloved father, Larry Garcia, was called home to our Lord on September 10, 2026, at the age of 91. Dad had a great zest for life until the very end and loved spending time with his family and the many friends he made everywhere he went. He had a natural ability to connect with people in a meaningful way and had a great sense of humor. Dad had a strong faith in God and was a devout Catholic. Among his many accomplishments, dad was a successful businessman and owner of Sunland Realty, an avid golfer and won many of the tournaments. He was a life-long Lobo fan and enjoyed attending their games at The Pit and followed them to Las Vegas during March Madness. He especially loved dancing and listening to New Mexico Spanish music! He was a wonderful dad, grandpapa, brother, son, and uncle and will be greatly missed!
Dad was born in Socorro and was a resident of Rio Rancho, New Mexico for 49 years. He is survived by his children Deborah Lucas, Darlene Taliaferro, James Garcia and Andrew Garcia; grandchildren Christina, Brandon, Ashley, Angelina, Falisha, Natasha, Drew, Rhiannon and Dylan; great-grandchildren Cristian, Lilliana, Zabri and Apollo; siblings Emerlinda Lewis, Mary Ellen (Nella) Montoya, Ernie Montoya, Priscilla Knotts, Tom Garcia and Don Griego; several nieces, nephews and extended family members. Dad was preceded in death by his son Gerald Garcia, mother Tomasita Garcia, brother Ray (Junior) Garcia and sister Mary Elza (Hita) Griego. Dad served his country honorably and retired from the United States Air Force Reserves. Visitation will be held at St. Thomas Aquones Catholic Church, 1502 Sara Rd. SE in Rio Rancho, New Mexico on Monday September 21, 2026, at 10:00am. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 11:00am. Interment with full military honors is scheduled for Tuesday September 22, 2026, at 9:00am at the Santa Fe National Cemetery, 501 N. Guadlupe St. in Santa Fe, New Mexico where he will be laid to rest. Pallbearers will be Drew Garcia, Dylan Garica, Tommy Dean Garica, Steve Soto, David Ray Garcia and Don Griego. Honorary Pallbearers will be James Garcia, Andrew Garcia, Tom Garcia, Ernie Montoya, Danny Soto, Eric Griego and Celestino Teller.
