In Loving Memory of Le Roy Junior Hernandez

February 1, 2006 – September 18, 2026

Le Roy Junior Hernandez was born on February 1, 2006, in Roswell, New Mexico. His life may have been far too short, but in his 20 years, LeRoy left a mark on the hearts of so many people who had the privilege of knowing and loving him.

Le Roy was a sweet, respectful, hardworking young man with a quiet spirit and a heart that made people want to look out for him. He never needed to be the loudest person in the room or the center of attention. He was simply LeRoy. Kind, humble, willing to help, and always trying to better himself and always with a big smile.

From a young age, Le Roy experienced things that forced him to grow up much sooner than he should have. But instead of allowing those circumstances to define his future, he was determined to create something different for himself. He was breaking the cycle.

One of Le Roy’s greatest passions was barbering. It was more than just cutting hair to him, it was something he was becoming truly proud of and a future he was working hard to build. Those around him had the beautiful opportunity to watch him learn, grow, work, and become the young man and barber he dreamed of being. He had so much potential, so many plans, and so much life still ahead of him.

Le Roy definitely had a funny side, especially when it came to food. If anyone was going to a party, a family gathering, or anywhere there was going to be food, Le Roy was already asking, “What are you bringing me back?” He didn’t even have to be invited to the party he just wanted to make sure his plate was invited. Somehow, he always found a way to be included when food was involved.

He also had a lot of confidence with the clippers, sometimes a little more confidence than experience. His family will never forget when he gave his grandma a very questionable haircut while reassuring her that he knew exactly what he was doing. Then there was the time he told his little cousin the same thing, only to end up pulling up a YouTube video in the middle of the haircut.

Those stories are some of the memories that will always make his family laugh, because they were so Le Roy confident, funny, determined, and always figuring things out as he went. They are the kind of memories that bring smiles even through the tears and remind everyone of the little things that made him so loved.

Le Roy was deeply loved by his family. He is survived by his mother, Maribel Bejerano; his siblings, Analycia and Isaiah Velasquez; his great-grandmother, Amelia Faz; his grandmother, Janice Lee Murillo; and his tía, Stephanie Hernandez.

He is also survived by his maternal grandmother, Veronica “Ronnie” Villarreal; his grandfather, Humerto Bejarano; his great-grandparents, Maria and Pablo Bejarano and Gloria and Oscar Martinez; and his tías, Vanessa R. Bejarano and Adriana Bell, along with the many relatives, friends, mentors, and loved ones whose lives were forever changed by knowing him.

Le Roy was preceded in death by his father, Le Roy Junior Hernandez; his grandfather, Lee Roy; his great-grandmother, Manuela Hernandez; his great-grandfather, Juan Santos; and his step-great-grandfather, Santiago Faz.

To the people who loved him, Le Roy was so much more than a name or a memory. He was a son, a brother, a grandson, a nephew, a friend, a little brother to those who took him under their wing, and a young man everyone was incredibly proud to watch grow.

There is so much that Le Roy should have still been here to experience. More traveling liked he loved doing. More birthdays. More haircuts. More accomplishments. More laughter. More moments with the people who loved him. His absence leaves a space that can never truly be filled.

But the life Le Roy lived will continue through every story told about him, every lesson he taught without realizing it, every person who believed in him, and every life he touched along the way.

Le Roy, you broke the cycle. You were becoming someone, and we were already so proud of you. We will continue to carry your name, your memory, and your love with us. You will forever be our angel, watching over all of us. Rest peacefully, Le Roy. You were loved more than you could ever know, and you will never be forgotten.
