Magdalena “Madge” Florinda Flores, age 96, born in El Rito, New Mexico and a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away on May 10, 2026. Madge is survived by her children, Irene Valdez, Donna Gunderson and husband, Glen, Felipe Flores, Oscar Flores and wife, Christine; grandchildren, Sharon Valdez and husband, Angel, Sheila Garris and husband, John, Ricky Ortega and wife, Marita, Erika Sanchez and husband, Francisco, Pablo Gunderson and partner, Claire Canfield, Dominic Flores, Merlinda Flores, Matthew Flores, Gabriel Flores, DeeAnna Flores; eighteen great-grandchildren; ten great-great grandchildren; six nieces and nephews from Salt Lake City and extended family members. She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Flores, son, Paul Flores, grandson, Adrian Ortega; parents, Roman and Irene Baca; siblings, Manuel Baca, Carlos Baca, Amelia Baca and Erlinda Vigil and husband, Gus.

After graduating from high school, Madge moved to Albuquerque, where she met the love of her life, Richard. They were married in 1952 and together built a beautiful life, raising five children. Madge loved going out dancing with Richard and also enjoyed attending New Mexico Lobos men’s basketball games. Above all, she treasured the moments spent with her family and loved ones at gatherings and celebrations.

Madge was a devoted Catholic and a faithful parishioner of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary for more than 60 years. She was also a dedicated auxiliary member of the Legion of Mary. Madge will be lovingly remembered for her kindness, warmth, and caring spirit.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, May 19, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. in The Gabaldon Memorial Chapel with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by the Legion of Mary. Final Visitation will be held on Wednesday, May 20, 2026 at 8:30 a.m. at Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church 5415 Fortuna Rd NW with Mass of the Resurrection to be celebrated at 9:00 a.m. burial will take place at the Santa Fe National Cemetery 501 N. Guadalupe St. in Santa Fe, New Mexico at 2:00 p.m where she will be laid to rest with her husband, Richard Flores.

Our family extends heartfelt thanks to Matthew Flores, Sharon Valdez, Madison Garris, and Raena Rodriguez for the loving care they provided to their grandmother during her illness. We are also deeply grateful to Jay Gonzales and Eladia Muniz-Chavarria of Bosque Trails Hospice for their compassionate care and support. Special thanks to Deacon Keith for his prayers and spiritual comfort to Madge and our family. We are sincerely thankful for the many prayers, kindness, and love shown to our family during this difficult time.

Pallbearers will be Rick Ortega, Pablo Gunderson, Dominic Flores, Matthew Flores, Gabriel Flores Christian Garris. Honorary Pallbearers will be Sharon Valdez, Sheila Garris, Erika Sanchez and DeeAnna Flores.
