Margo P. Williams

d. May 1, 2025

Margo P. Williams (Cooke) was born January 7th, 1935, in London England. She told stories of surviving World WWII and spending time in an air raid shelter– which she attributed to her great faith, strength and resilience. She was a tuff little Brit. She moved to the USA in 1960 alone with a child in tow and one on the way. A whole new world with many new adventures but also many new and sometimes frightening challenges, but she faced them all. She was her mother’s first born daughter. I say this because until Margo’s Home going -we were a family of Five Generations of firstborn Girls. Something Margo held as a great torch of pride.

Margo lived a simple but impactful life. Her family was her everything – and when I say Family it was those born of blood and born in her Heart. She was known by many names - Mom, Gram, Aunty Margo, Aunty M, GG. She was the pied piper of Kids – She loved kids. She had a magical sense of knowing when someone was in need or hurting. She would speak and they would listen. She would share Jesus and her great wisdom. She had an innate way of meeting them right where they were – many have said Seeing them for who they really are - giving comfort, guidance, and immeasurable, unconditional love.

Margo’s other passion was education. She taught at Rio Grande Christian Academy and maintained relationships with many of the kids after retiring. Not only would she teach respect, manners, self-discipline, self-confidence, and commitment but thought phonics were key to being a great reader. If you could read well and have good knowledge of what you read, you would succeed. The funny thing about phonics with Margo is she still had her British accent. In teaching scripture memorization or just general conversation, the children would pronounce certain words like her - My Niece Katiera still says mirra for mirror. Her E R’s were A’s as in Unsa for Unser, Isleter for Isleta, and sepulcher was seplica. She called my friend Loretta, Loretter – everyone loved her accent, and it always made for a good laugh.

The other thing Margo was known for was her delicious cakes and baked goods. Her awesome pineapple cream cake was to die for!! Her Caramel Bars and Peanut Butter Chocolate Chip cookies were next level. I bet many of you were blessed to have one of her home-made beautiful creations on a birthday, Quinceanera or wedding cake. She made each one with the same love she gave. She took such pride in doing her best, doing a good job in all that she did - more of the wisdom she always tried to instill in us.

How do you say goodbye to your mom? How do you put into words what she truly meant to you? We lived across the street from each other for over 30 years. So many memories.

You will be missed more than words can ever describe. Each of us has been loved by you so we have that to support us as we go forward in your love.

Some of your last words were to be happy and celebrate you and love each other, be there for each other and lean on each other – and we will Mom, Promise!

How do you find the strength to go forward.? –

Well family - and that means all of you - we all carry some of her in us. She was faithful and fought the good fight – she expects nothing less of us.

So, we don't say Goodbye Margo, Mom, Gram, Aunty Margo, Aunty M, GG

We say...

...See you in Heaven!
