Sgt. Marvin Joseph Pohl, Sr., age 71, resident of Albuquerque, passed Sunday, December 27, 2020. Mr. Pohl is survived by his wife of fifty years, Linda Sue Pohl, Father, Mike (Miguel) Pohl; children, Valerie Pohl and Hector Echeribel Jr., Marvin Pohl Jr. and wife, Tanya. Grandchildren, Aaron Pohl and wife, Sahar, Michael Pohl and great Grandchild, Kile Pohl. Siblings, Michael Pohl and wife, Cathy, Judy Martinez and husband, Danny, Lillian Pohl and Robert Lovato, sister-in-law Shirley Pohl, Beverly Richardson and husband, Bob, David Pohl and wife, Melissa, Steven Pohl and wife, Phyllis. Marvin Pohl Sr. was preceded in death by his daughter Veronica Ann Pohl, mother Vivian Chavez Pohl and brother, Raymond Pohl.
Marvin Pohl Sr. was born August 23, 1949 to Mike (Miguel) and Vivian Pohl. He graduated from Rio Grande High School in 1967, playing all sports and excelling in baseball. He joined the United States Army in 1969, deployed to Vietnam, and Germany. He was a honorable recipient of the 1st Calvary Division Vietnam Combat Certificate, The Air Medal, as well as The Bronze Star Medal. Sgt. Marvin Pohl Sr. was Honorably Discharged from the service in 1975. He worked for the City of Albuquerque, retiring in 1998. Marvin Pohl enjoyed helping others, working with electricity and decorating for Christmas. Marvin was known through the community for decorating his home with hundreds of Christmas lights for the past 30+years.
A Committal Service is scheduled for 2:30pm on Monday, January 11, 2021 at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
