May 3, 1948 - October 10, 2025
Born to Willie and Andrea Barreras on May 3, 1948 — in his grandparent's barn in New Mexico, a story he loved to share - Pete lived a life filled with music, laughter, and love.
He grew up in Grants and later in Albuquerque, where his passion for music took root. As a young man, he played tenor sax in local rock bands, even once sharing the stage with the legendary B.B. King — a memory he cherished for life.
Pete proudly served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War as a radio operator from 1967 to 1969.
After his service, he moved to Colorado and worked at Rocky Flats, advancing from pipefitter to shift manager. It was there that he met Donna, the love of his life. They married in 1987 and built a beautiful life together filled with laughter, friendship, and devotion.
In retirement, Pete rekindled his lifelong love of music, teaching guitar, organizing jam sessions, and mastering nearly a thousand songs. He also enjoyed woodworking, photography, and weekly video chats with dear friends.
Pete will be remembered for his creativity, humor, kindness, and deep love of family. He is survived by his wife Donna, sons Joe and John, four sisters, and one brother.
