Priscilla Archunde

 

Mrs. Priscilla Archunde, age 87, passed away peacefully at her home Sunday, December 18, 2022, surrounded by her family. Priscilla was born September 21, 1935, in Los Alamos, NM. She later moved to Albuquerque to attend college and

worked at St. Joseph’s hospital. It was then that she met the love of her life Isaias Archunde and the two were married in 1960.  After moving to Grants and starting their family, Priscilla began volunteering at St. Teresa of Avila Catholic Church and then began teaching at St. Teresa Catholic School. Mrs. Archunde was a beloved teacher to so many students. She taught 2nd grade for many years and even after retirement continued working as a substitute teacher and classroom aide. Priscilla was a faithful and devout Catholic. She attended Mass daily and was a weekly adorer at St. Teresa of Avila Church for years until her health no longer allowed her to. Priscilla also served her church community in several capacities - as a Eucharistic Minister at Mass and for the sick and homebound, a lector, an altar server coordinator, and a religious education teacher. She is survived by her daughters and son-in-law, Audrey Archunde and Aileen and Chris Sanchez; her

grandchildren, and their spouses, Tabatha and Michael Saavedra and Steven and Elizabeth Sanchez; six great grandchildren, Mikayla, Autumn, and Isaiah Saavedra and Santino, Serenity, and Sariah Sanchez; sister Lucy Dinkle.

She is preceded in death by her mother, Felomena Gallegos and her loving husband Isaias Archunde; brother Jesus Garcia; grandson Christopher Sanchez. A Rosary will be recited at 9:30a.m. at St. Teresa of Avila Church, 213 Smith St. in Grants, New Mexico on Tuesday, December 27, 2022. Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated at 10:00 a.m. Internment will follow services at Grants Memorial Cemetery, 500 w. Roosevelt Ave in Grants.  Pallbearers will be, Steven Sanchez, Chris Sanchez, Michael Saavedra, Joseph Rodriguez, Lori Rodarte, and Laura Windhorst.  Honorary Pallbearers will be Mikayla Saavedra, Autumn Saavedra, Isaiah Saavedra, Santino Sanchez, Serenity Sanchez, and Sariah Sanchez.
