Ramona D. Romero

d. June 6, 2025

Ramona D. Romero, born in La Junta Colorado on July 18, 1948 peacefully departed this world on June 6, 2025 at the age of 76. She was surrounded by family and friends. She is reunited in heaven with her husband, Delubino Romero Jr. She dedicated her life to the care of children including her 2 daughters, 3 grandchildren, running childcare out of her home, and as an administrative assistant for APS and various charter schools. She was also a devoted member of her church, San Martin, which she and her family helped to build. Her faith was an important part of her life. She met with her prayer group to pray the Rosary on a regular basis, and they prayed for her through her illness and passing. Her greatest happiness was music. She loved a huge variety of music, but her favorite was Mariachi. She sang her favorite songs as if nobody was listening. She was a shopper and fashionista. She always had stylish accessories, and her hair and nails were always on point. She loved traveling, quilting, cooking, and decorating her home. She was a devoted grandmother. She watched her grandsons Diego and Angelo grow into amazing young men. They gently cared for her during her last 6 months of life. The light of her life was her granddaughter, Katarina. She cherished every moment she had to spend with Kata Maria. She was also a “bird whisperer”. She loved birds and they loved her. Cardinals, Hummingbirds, and Blue Jays would show up as soon as she sat outside to relax. She volunteered for the homeless of Albuquerque and charitable donations can be made on her behalf to www.joyjunction.org Many thanks to Neveah Hospice for their loving dedication and care. www.neveahhospice.com.

She is survived by her daughter Frances Padilla, husband Isaac Padilla and grandsons Diego and Angelo, daughter Flora Romero, husband Elias Mantzavrakos and granddaughter Katarina, sisters Dylan Jones and Vicky Flores, brother-in-law Efren Romero, wife Theresa, brother-in-law Willie Rael, comadre Theresa Gallegos, and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews, neighbors and good friends.
