Raul Miera Jr. passed away peacefully on June 23, 2026, surrounded by the love of his family. He lived a life defined by devotion to his family, hard work, and unwavering love for those closest to him.
He was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, a skilled union carpenter and overall handy Grampy.
For 48 wonderful years, Raul shared his life with his beloved wife, Norma. Together, they built a strong and loving family, creating countless memories that will be treasured for generations.
Raul was a proud and devoted father to Robert Miera and his wife, Tina; Edwina King; and Amanda Colburn and her husband, Brian. He was a cherished Grampy and Papa to Isaiah King, Isabella King, Rylee Colburn, Cassidy Colburn, Antonio Avila, and Lola Lopez. His grandchildren brought immense joy to his life, and he took great pride in celebrating their accomplishments, milestones, and unique personalities.
Raul is also survived by his siblings, Lawrence Vargas, Sam Vargas, Abby Vargas, and Lupita Miera, along with many cherished nieces, nephews, extended family members, and friends who knew that behind his sarcastic humor and direct manner was a heart full of love, loyalty, and deep care for those closest to him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Olive Miera and Raul Miera Sr. (Rebecca Miera); his in-laws Guadalupe and Nellie Sanchez, Manuel and Virginia Luna, Patsy Vargas and his siblings, Henry Grant, Delia Hughes, George Vargas (Christine), David Vargas, and Joann Sandoval(Andy).
Raul will be remembered for his strength, kindness, sense of humor, and his unique brand of love. Though his passing leaves a tremendous void, the values he instilled and the memories he created will continue to live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
The family welcomes all who wish to join them in celebrating Raul's life and legacy. A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, July 7, 2026 at 9:00 a.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 9:30 a.m. and a Mass to follow at 10:15 a.m. all to be take place at St. Jude Catholic Church located at 5712 Paradise Blvd NW, Albuquerque, NM 87114. A Burial will follow services to Santa Fe National Cemetery located at 501 N Guadalupe St, Santa Fe, NM 87501 at 2:45 p.m.
