Our beloved Mom, and grandma, Viola Pearl Elizabeth Segura age 79, born in Cebolla, New Mexico and a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico, passed away peacefully on January 3, 2026. She married Freddie Segura on July 2, 1966. She was the most loving, protective, generous wife, mom, grandma, great-grandmother, and great-great-grandmother. We all know how much she loved watching the NBA and of course her Washington Redskins (NOT Commanders). Viola worked for the Federal Government for many years, then went on and worked with the Albuquerque Public schools where she loved all the kids. That was truly her passion. What captured all her family was her instruction of the Catholic Church Teachings, where she was a devout member of Our Lady of the Most Holy Rosary Catholic Church since she was a young teen. Our mom and grandma instilled morals and values in which we will continue to follow and be grateful for our guidance and positive words. She is survived by her daughters, Leonette and husband, Mike, Geraldine, Sue and Yvette and husband, Rupert; grandchildren, Takisha, Candice and husband, Jesse, Christopher “Bubba” and wife, Angel, Frederico “JJ”, Angel, Jennifer and Jenelle; great-grandchildren, Santiago and Naelly, Manny and Aleigha, J’Lynn, J’Lyse, CJ, Ariah, Noah, Elijah, Jayden, Jacob, Mikael, Izaiah, Mariah, and husband, Daniel; great-great-grandchildren, Carolina, Catalina and Baby girl “A” due in March 2026; two brothers, five sisters, and her beautiful nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Freddie Segura, daughter Jeanette Segura, and parents, Juan and Maxine Madrid. Visitation will be held in the Gabaldon Memorial Chapel 1000 Old Coors Dr. SW on Monday, January 12, 2026, at 6:30 p.m. with a Rosary to be recited at 7:00 p.m. by sisters, Mary Rios and Vicki Sanchez.
