It is with great sadness that the family of Virginia “Virgie” Vargas announce her passing in Albuquerque, NM on March 11, 2023 at the age of 77. Virginia passed away peacefully in her home.

Other grandchildren include, Erik Travis, Sammy Vargas Jr, Elias Vargas and Cheyanne Vargas. Virginia also had 8 great grandchildren who she adored and loved greatly, and god daughter Myra Calderon of Rio Rancho, NM.

She is preceded in death by her parents Clemente and Ramona Moralez of Dona Ana, NM and Sister Gloria Abeyta of Dona Ana, NM. Virginia was raised in Dona Ana, NM in a large, loving close nit family. Surviving sisters include, Enedina Sanchez, Dora Trejo, Alice Long, Dolores DeLao and Minerva Martinez. Virginia met the love of her life, Phil in high school, they soon eloped and thereafter moved to Albuquerque to raise their children. Virginia was a devoted wife and mother and loved spending time with her family. After suffering a debilitating stroke, she was pampered and nursed daily by her husband Phil and was the light of her children’s eyes. She maintained her class, spunk and dignity, communicating with her piercing brown eyes. In her later years, Virginia loved sitting at the backdoor of her home enjoying the sun and backyard.

She had a great passion for reading. She enjoyed spending time with her daughters, daughter in law, and nieces at Hobby Lobby and the mall. She was an amazing cook, and loved to bake for the Holidays. Many will remember her delicious biscochitos.

Virginia carried a tremendous amount of strength and helped whoever came to her in need of advice. There are no words as to how much she will be missed by her friends and family.
