Cora Chavez

Cora Chavez, age 94, beloved mother, grandmother and great grandmother, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, October 9th. She was preceded in death by her husband of 71 years, Cesario, and her first son, Henry. Cora is survived by son Chris, daughter Corinne, son Larry (wife Bev), daughter Lisa; grandsons Jacob, John (wife Michela), Joe, Ben, Zach, granddaughter Erin; great granddaughter Olivia and great grandson David. She is also survived by her sister, Nancy Sanchez, cousins and many nieces and nephews.  Cora greatly enjoyed her political involvement and volunteer work. She was a member of the Bernalillo County Federation of Democratic Women and active with the New Mexico League of Women Voters. She was a tireless campaign worker for the Democratic Party and worked at the County Clerks office for many years. She also enjoyed working many years at the NM State Fair ticket office. Cora was a founding member of Holy Ghost Church and was very active with the Altar Rosary Society. She loved to travel and visited many interesting places with her family throughout the years. Cora will be remembered for her kindness, laughter, strength, cheerfulness and upbeat attitude. We are grateful she lived a long and full life. She will be greatly missed by her loving family, friends and those whose lives she touched. We would like to thank all the staff at Roadrunner Homecare/Hospice for the kind attention and care given to her. A rosary will be held on Wednesday, October 27th at 9:30am, mass to follow at 10am, at Holy Ghost Church, 833 Arizona Street SE.
