Manuelita “Mela” Chapman, born in Tularosa, New Mexico, a resident of Albuquerque, New Mexico passed away on October 4, 2020, at age 63. She is survived by her husband of 44 years, Timothy Chapman; daughters, Camille Chapman, Jessica Swan and husband, David, Danielle Chapman and companion, Preston Talbert, and Nicole Ebberhart and husband, Robert; grandchildren Isaiah, Elias, Lucia, Mya, Ryan, Aiesha, Luke, and Nia; siblings Mary, Philip, and Teresita; sons in law, cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.
Mela was preceded in death by her parents, Luis and Margarita Chavez; siblings, Reyes Chavez, Ricardo Chavez, and Leo Chavez.
Mela is known for her love of God and devotion to her family and nursing profession. Mela earned her Doctorate in Nursing Practice degree from the University of New Mexico. Nursing was her calling. She cared for her patients and colleagues with sincere empathy.
Mela loved life. She will be remembered for her love of God, compassion, humor, beauty, and intellect.
